Yesterday was a great day full of service and some shenanigans (the good kind, I promise)!
The groups swapped worksites yesterday but both still got an unique and special time at both places. As one group went on an Urban Walk, where they simulated how the impoverished travel and attempt to get by in the Charlotte area, another group got to see how one persons desire to give back to his home country of Nigeria 🇳🇬 motivated him to open up 300 shoe distribution centers in the USA that deliver out to around 80 countries.
Today we get a free evening where we will be eating dinner in downtown Charlotte!
Hope everyone is having a great week and remember it's Hump Day!
Peace and Grace,

As we started doing work today, we were reminded why we are doing this. Joel Tomkinson, the director of CROSS, led a devotion about our theme this week. LIVE OUT LOVE. Remember to love God, others and ourselves!
Today was our first day of being split up. Throughout the week we will be split into two different groups and led by two different interns. Group one is led by a young lady named Sarah, who is a member of Myers Park and a junior at UNC of chapel hill. The other intern is Aaron who is coincidentally a former camper of my camp, small world! He is a junior at Clemson.
The groups today did a lot of work between, cooking meals for the men's group at the charlotte rescue house to playing soccer and other games with less than fortunate kids.
Due to the nature of the worksites we aren't allowed to have pictures of them doing work or around a constituent. I apologize for the lower quantity of pictures.
We hope y'all have a great week, because we certainly are!

We have arrived safely and have been oriented to our home for the next few days.
The energy of this place is contagious and as one student has said, "This is already better than last year!"
Stay tuned for more tales of our adventures this week.
P.S. Change in time of arrival. We will be leaving after breakfast NOT LUNCH. So we will be arriving back close to 10:30 or 11:00 a.m.
